At Passion for Flowers we are very excited to be featured on Love My Dress this afternoon. A couple of months ago we were asked by Aston & Ainsworth Photography if we would help them out on a vintage shoot at Severn Valley Railway. Of course we said yes, we loved the concept. We designed two signature rose bouquets; a peach rose bouquet with touches of wax flower tied loosely with peach satin ribbon as well as a soft pink rose bouquet with snippets of astrantia and a delicate lace wrap.

For vintage elegance candelabra are perfect for marquee wedding centrepieces.Marquee weddings look gorgeous with extra details to bring the blank canvas to life. We love vintage candlesticks and mercury place name holders.

Anemones and hydrangeas in glass footed bowls make stunning marquee wedding table centrepieces, pearls continue the vintage glamour look, we love the pretty pearl and crystal hanging candle holders. We have used them here filled with anemones.
Remember the old vintage salt cellars? – used here as your place card holders. Add a snippet of flowers and you have a gorgeous wedding favour and place card holder all in one.

Lace frames are great for naming your table seen here at Wroxall Abbey.For a more rustic or country wedding use bark containers  filled with succulents for your marquee wedding. Set them on hessian and wood and add jam favours for the guests. Yummy!

Our stand at the Wroxall Abbey Wedding Fair featured items from the wedding of my dreams.Signs are a great way of personalising your wedding and there is always plenty of space in a marquee which needs to be filled.

I just love the time for tea sign sat next to the vintage tea pot! Great if you are planning a tea party marquee wedding.Ribbons come in all shapes and sizes – lace is great for a vintage wedding, check out the to have and to hold ribbon. Use the ribbon to tie napkins and to add lots of creative touches to your marquee wedding.We really enjoyed putting together this marquee wedding inspiration.

Country church weddings look gorgeous with rustic stone urns filled with rustic wedding flowers.We love using moss for rustic wedding flowers to make the wedding flowers appear to be just growing naturally! Country church weddings look cute with rustic wedding flowers in jam jars and bottles. Tie lace or hessian around the jars for rustic details.

Simple rustic willow hearts make great pew ends for a country church wedding.

At the country church entrance create a warm welcome with crates filled with rustic wedding flowers.Fritillera make gorgeous rustic wedding flowers in the spring.

Decorate the font simply with hessian then add jam jars and bottles filled with rustic wedding flowers, astrantia and ranunculus are perfect in the spring.

Just picked / country style flowers are one of our favourite styles of flowers here at Passion for Flowers. These gorgeous spring blue muscari were used last weekend on Rock My Wedding’s stand at The National Wedding Show. I have planted the left overs in my garden and they look beautiful.

Muscari work well for spring weddings, they could be planted in terracotta pots and grouped on your wedding tables, or have them filling a wooden crate. The white muscari are also fantastic and look oh so fresh. I’ll post some photos from Rock My Wedding’s stand when I find time.

{Purple Hydrangeas and Purple Veronica ~ Passion for Flowers: Midlands Floral Design}

At Passion for Flowers we are meeting more and more brides who are looking for a hint of purple in their wedding flowers. Our recent brides have chosen some beautiful purple bridesmaids dresses and would naturally like elements of their wedding flowers to tie in with the colour. We are seeing Cadbury purple right through to lilac at the moment.

If you are looking for inspiration for purple wedding flowers I have gathered together some of our favourite purple flowers to inspire you. Any flowers you like, print them out and put them in your wedding scrap book to take along to your consultation with your florist.

For a Spring wedding deep purple tulips can look elegant and fresh especially when mixed with white or ivory tulips. A handful of spring tulips can look beautiful tied together with purple ribbon for a simple purple and ivory spring bouquet. For your wedding centrepieces adding purple organza inside round bubble vases can bring out the colour even more on your tables.

Lots of beautiful purple wedding flowers in this hand tied purple bouquet we put together for one of our summer brides. Purple lisianthus, purple delphiniums, sweet peas and stocks mixed with cream lisianthus and David Austin roses. Although we have mixed a few tones and colours together here you can see it still gives an overall palette of purple wedding flowers. Mixing different tones adds depth and interest to your floral arrangements and bouquets, perfect for spring and summer weddings.

Ocean song roses are a lovely choice of rose to tie in with your purple wedding flowers. Ocean song rose is a soft lilac coloured rose, here we have used it in a floral arch with ivory spray roses, purple lisianthus and gypsophilia. On the doorway we hung a grey willow heart tied with purple ribbon to highlight the entrance to the ceremony.

For softer purples and lilac wedding flowers we enjoy working with hydrangeas and lilac lisianthus, again these look great mixed with greenery and highlights of deeper purple. We often add herbs such as rosemary and thyme to our greenery for summer weddings for their beautiful scents.

Lisianthus make excellent purple button holes for the chaps, they are robust and stand up well all day. Lisianthus grow in a couple of different shades of purple, deeper Cadbury purple, softer lilac and special lisianthus have highlights of purple on the petals. The lisianthus flowers themselves are pretty but the smaller buds which haven’t yet opened have their own unique look, don’t neglect them just because they haven’t opened yet, we often make these into button holes too.
