Will & Joe – Compton Verney Wedding

The long awaited wedding of my son Will to his partner Joe was a celebration worth waiting for. They both knew they wanted a day to remember with family and friends and a big party. Joe knew what he wanted, trusted our team of florists to create it and did manage to relax on the day.

The Ceremony

The Chapel was the perfect place for the boys as we call them to tie the knot. They had both chosen Best men and Groom’s maids together with their respective nieces as flower girls. For couples getting married at Compton Verney, the Courtyard apartment is the ideal space to get ready, even to host a rehearsal dinner the night before and be close enough to keep an eye on everything the morning of the wedding.

We decorated the chapel, well I say we, but I entrusted the on the day construction to my flowery friends and trusted colleagues which enabled me to take on my role as Mother of the Groom, Grandmother of Olivia and Sophie and enjoy myself safely in the knowledge that everything would go swimmingly.

The feeling for the day was relaxed, whimsical and wonderful. Amazing scented peonies and other gorgeous blooms created the most pleasing arrangements. Lois together with Judith and Jane pulled the vision to life, each bloom and stem carefully considered to give just the right look. We included a mix of foliage, grasses and textured stems to the foliage backdrop.

The ceremony entrance was decorated with a similarly styled piece and a rustic table with an abundance of confetti.

The Confetti

The flower girls greeted guests leaving the ceremony with baskets filled with freeze-dried confetti to await the Grooms. Everyone took a generous handful ready for the confetti shot. The shot captured by Liam is one of our favourites of the day and just shows the ultimate joy the boys felt on being married surrounded by their family and friends.

The Tables

For a relaxed setting, the boys chose long banqueting tables for family and guests. No official top table just a mix of those nearest and dearest. The windowsills were decorated with a mix of glass bottles with seasonal and dried beauty. Nigella, scabious, astilbe, bunny tails and seed heads in neutral colours.

Each place setting had a personal menu and a dried stem. Bottles filled the table with movement and life from the mix of delicate white flowers, it was as if we were dining in a sunlit field.

The backdrop from the ceremony framed the doors out to the portico and was perfect when the time for speeches arrived. The speeches were emotional and fun and captured the mood of the day.

Bouquets, Buttonholes & Flower Crowns

For our family wedding, we wanted the softest bouquets, the prettiest flower crowns and the coolest buttonholes. The photos capture everything but the amazing scent which we can all treasure. The vision came to life after 2 years of planning and we are so happy with the day we enjoyed together.

The weather was kind to us and we were able to enjoy dancing and drinks in the garden and catch up with family and friends who we had not seen in a long, long time.

The Party

After dinner, everyone was invited back to the Chapel where a fun event had been organised. Charity Drag Queen Bingo was a first for many of the guests and everyone got into the spirit of the event and had a blast.

After a couple of drinks, everyone headed back to Adam Hall where the band had set up to ready to dance the night away. A great set was enjoyed by all. You can just catch a glimpse of the cloud of honesty we added behind the band.

What an amazing day filled with fun, family, friends, joy and laughter thank you for capturing every moment Liam and congratulations to Will and Joe xxx
